THE LINE FOLLOWER CHALLENGE

The Lakshman Rekha – Line Follower Robot Competition challenges participants to design and build fully autonomous robots that can follow a predefined track. Robots must use sensors and onboard processing to navigate the path, handle lighting conditions, and adapt to trajectory changes. The event tests automation, embedded systems, and programming skills, encouraging students to innovate in robotics and AI fundamentals.

Robot Specifications
- Maximum dimensions: 20 × 20 × 20 cm.
- Maximum weight: 3 kg.
- Must function under varying lighting conditions (including camera flashes).
- Must include all systems onboard: battery, sensors, processing, and control.
- Power supply: Maximum 12V (no external supply allowed).
Rules & Regulations
- Arena map will be disclosed on the event day.
- Only 2 team members allowed near the arena during calibration.
- Participants must bring all required accessories.
- On-board power supply is mandatory; no external power provided.
- Practice run is allowed only with coordinator’s permission.
- Arena trajectory/path width will be ~3 cm.
- Round-specific rules will be explained before each round.
- Once a robot crosses the start line, it must remain fully autonomous.
- Manual touches will incur penalties.
- Scores = completion time – penalties.
- Judges’/Coordinator’s decisions are final.
