The Robo Sumo competition is inspired by the Japanese sport of Sumo wrestling, where two robots attempt to push each other out of a ring. Teams must design and program robots capable of withstanding impact, maintaining balance, and strategically overpowering opponents. The event encourages robot design optimization, sensor application, and tactical maneuvering, making it an exciting mix of engineering and competition.

Robot Specifications

  • Maximum weight: 5 kg (±10% tolerance)
  • Maximum dimensions: 30 cm × 30 cm (±10% tolerance)
  • Power supply: Maximum 12V (no external supply provided)
  • Bots can be wired or wireless (wires must reach arena corners)
  • Restrictions:
    • No hitting or destructive mechanisms
    • Ready-made bots (e.g., Lego kits) not allowed
    • If multiple bots per team, each must have a separate operator

Rules & Regulations

  • Each game consists of 2 halves, each lasting 2 minutes
  • One controller per bot throughout the game
  • Wires must be managed by a single player (for wired bots)
  • 1-minute technical timeout available
  • If wires entangle, game is paused and resumed from same positions
  • After a bot scores, both bots reset to starting positions
  • Winner = team with highest points across both halves
  • Tie-breaker → Golden Goal (first score wins)
  • Touching bot to prevent falling → considered fallen, point to opponent
  • If a bot flips, advantage goes to opponent
  • No picking/hitting mechanisms allowed
  • Organizers’ decision final in disputes
